Born and raised in Jackson, MS, Coyt Bailey dreamed of flying helicopters since he was a little boy.  He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia in 1988 and started Mercury Aviation, Inc. in 1995.  His first customer was WLBT news and he is now known as Captain Coyt.  His fleet has grown to include five helicopters and his business ranges from traffic/news, power line patrol, aerial photo and video, charter flights, scenic flights and emergency events.

After Katrina, Coyt documented the devastation in Mississippi and Louisiana.  Coyt also single-handedly put together the Metro One aerial law enforcement program, the first such program ever for MetroJackson.  Coyt still makes Jackson his home and has served as a SafeCity Board member since spring, 2006.
